I was fortunate to intern with Pennlive.com/The Patriot News from January to May 2014.  The Patriot News is Harrisburg, PA's local newspaper, and is read all throughout the Central Pennsylvania area.  The following are a few articles published, both online and in print, during my time there. 

College Winter Fashion 2014:  Six tips to working your winter wardrobe

 

For this piece, I interviewed students from local colleges about winter fashion trends and tips. Having been accompanied by Pennlive Photographer Christine Baker, this article features tips from the students and a photogallery of their unique styles.  In addition to being published online, this article was featured on the front page of the Patriot News Living Section. 15 actors and actresses who deserve an Osccar

 

In preparation for the 2014 Oscar Awards, this article features fifteen actors and actresses who, shockingly, have never won and Oscar, despite their incredible performances. Published February 27, 2014.

Monster turtle vs. racing lawn mower: Best of Craigslist

 

"Best of Craigslist" is an ongoing weekly article, posted every Friday, featuring the weirdest, best, or worst ads posted on Craigslist from the Central Pennsylvania area.  I was a "guest writer," so to speak, of this particular installment of "Best of Craigslist," which is usually written by Entertainment Writer Julia Hatmaker.  The style of this article is in the format of a blog post.  Published March 7, 2014.

Duggar sisters spill on 'Growing Up Duggar,'grandma's advice and pride

 

For this piece, I interviewed TLC's reality TV show 19 Kids and Counting stars Jana, Jill, Jessa, and Jinger Duggar, who had just released their book Growing Up Duggar: It's All About Relationships and were visiting the Harrisburg area on a book tour.  In the interview they told stories about growing up in a family of 21, their Christian faith, and the topic of their book:  relationships.  This story was featured on the front page of The Patriot News, as well as online.  Published March 12, 2014.

"Veronica Mars" movie: seven things for the 'marshmellows'

 

As a preview piece for an uncoming movie Veronica Mars, I wrote a blog-like article to create some chatter about the anticipated revival of a mid-2000s TV show Veronica Mars.  Having been a fan of the show while it aired, I was given autonomy over how to write the preview.  This piece was fun to write, and was published online on March 13, 2014.  It was also posted on the online forum Reddit.com, and on IMDB.com (the International Movie Database).

'The Legend of Sleepy Hollow' ballet returns to Harrisburg: CPYB's Alan Hineline shares show's history

 

I had the opportunity of both interviewing Alan Hineline about his work and visiting the Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet (CPYB), a renound ballet school in the Northeast region, to learn more about the behind the scenes work in ballet productions in lieu of an upcoming production. The story is a combination of my interview with Mr. Hineline, a preview of the ballet, and a narrative of my experience visitng the CPYB during rehearsals.  Published Apirl 3, 2014.

Prom 2014: Before prom checklist

 

This piece was another installment of Pennlive.com's prom coverage.  To create the six items on the checklist, I referred to my personal prom experience as well as the experiences of my co-workers. The article was featured in The Patriot News as well as online.  Published April 17, 2014.

'Transcendence' producer and Central PA native Annie Marter talks about new film

 

I had the opportunity to interview Transcendence (2014) producer Annie Marter over the phone. This article served as both a preview for the to-be-released movie, and as an interesting piece about a PA native.  During the interview, I learned about Marter's educational background, the prodction process of Transcendence, and a little bit about some of the actors/actresses/producers/directiors she had the pleasure of working with.  This article was featured online.  Published April 18, 2014.

Prom 2014: How to whip up two great hairstyles for prom this year

 

For this piece, I visited Polished Salon in Lemoyne, PA and interviewed stylists about two easy-to-do hairstyles, as a part of Pennlive.com's prom coverage.  This is a video story, recorded on an iPhone and edited through iMovie. I wrote, recorded, and edited the story.  Published April 22, 2014.
